Building the nation in service of the Filipino

By: Elton Gagni, Senior Editorial Associate

As we celebrate our dear Philippines’s independence today, it’s also important to look back and remember our country’s proudest achievements since June 12, 1898 — how we built this great nation, how we progressed as Filipinos, and how put ourselves on the world stage, not as a colony but as our own.

As a 28-year-old award-winning integrated marketing experiences agency, TeamAsia has always believed that true progress can only be achieved when we are able to positively impact the lives of the Filipino people. As proud nation-builders, we continue to strive to make impactful change through countless events and campaigns that have contributed in building our nation. Listed below are some of the nation-building campaigns that we’ve proudly been a part of:

ASEAN and APEC Events

In true TeamAsia fashion, we’ve been involved in various campaigns and events hosted by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in the country. This is an important aspect of nation-building because it’s an opportunity to bring nations together, learn strategies and best practices, form partnerships and collaborations, and even showcase the best that the Philippines has to offer. These include APEC Women, ASEAN Corporate Governance Conference and Awards, and ASEAN Creative Cities Forum and Exhibition. Most recently, we also handled the communication and media management of the 30th SEA Games, covering events across the country, handling one crisis after another, and engaging influencers to rally support for our athletes.

Philippine Startup Week

Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and startups make up a big chunk of the Philippine business environment. The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and QBO Innovation Hub partnered with TeamAsia in mounting the Philippine Startup Week 2019. This was the first large-scale series of events done across the country and highlighted the entrepreneurial spirit and technological innovations of Philippine startups and startup enablers.

Empowerment of Philippine Businesses

In an effort to help strengthen the business environment in the Philippines, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), together with the Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) and Board of Investments (BOI) worked with TeamAsia in spreading awareness on the value of shared prosperity through the ASEAN Inclusive Business Summit 2017 and in mounting the National Export Congress 2018. TeamAsia was able to share meaningful stories about partnerships with entrepreneurs from rural areas and the best products and services the Philippines has to offer in the global marketplace.

Pilipinas Go4Health and Department of Health

Highlighting the value of health and personal care, the Department of Health partnered with TeamAsia in 2013 to market its Pilipinas Go4Health movement for a healthier and properly nourished Filipino. Hosting a ceremonial memorandum of understanding, various brands and organizations took part in the campaign, delivering a holistic approach in educating the public.

International Innovation Summit

The Philippine IT and business process management (IT-BPM) industry has grown to become the major economic driver that it is today, with its 1.3M strong Filipino workforce. TeamAsia is proud to have been one of the founding members of its umbrella organization, the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP). Since 2009, we mounted the first International Outsourcing Summit, hosted numerous CEO briefings, and have stayed true to its core of bringing together global leaders to address global issues to continue propelling the IT-BPM industry forward.

Madrid Fusion Manila

Madrid Fusion is a widely successful culinary powerhouse of an event that celebrated the wonders of Spanish cuisine. Seeing the opportunity to push for Philippine tourism, the Department of Tourism and Tourism Promotions Board brought it here and dubbed it as Madrid Fusion Manila. Having been a strong ally and partner of these agencies, TeamAsia was entrusted with the responsibility of introducing and promoting the biggest gastronomic event in the country in the digital space through the event website, digital marketing campaigns and public relations. What a huge milestone it was for the agency!

TeamAsia for Tech and Innovation

One of TeamAsia’s biggest achievements in nation-building is being a PR partner of global brands such as Google, Uber, and Schneider Electric. Leading one successful campaign after another, we were able to spark conversations in various fronts including being digitally responsible, support for Filipino culture, urban mobility through ride-hailing, smarter consumption of energy, and youth empowerment. Through these campaigns, TeamAsia was able to evolve in its operations and service delivery, helping us create a bigger impact in different Filipino communities while powering the digital economy.

TAgether with the Environment

TeamAsia has also had the opportunity to take part in environmental campaigns. We aided the Forest Foundation of the Philippines in fulfilling their vision of protecting and preserving forests in various parts of the country, creating awareness through social media and different PR engagements. We’ve also successfully raised awareness on the use of clean energy with The Climate Reality Project through influencer engagements and an experiential activation.

My Dream in a Shoebox

As nation builders, TeamAsia has always been a firm believer of social responsibility and thus, My Dream in a Shoebox was born in 2009. What better way to help the future leaders of our country than by equipping them the tools they need to fulfill their dreams. Celebrating the program’s 10th year in 2018, TeamAsia expanded its coverage, offering scholarships to children from across the country, including the war-stricken city of Marawi. To date, we have donated over 400,000 shoeboxes and more than 180 scholarships to dreamers across the country.

TeamAsia is able to achieve these milestones not just because it’s simply our job, but because it is our duty and responsibility in service of the Filipino people — delivering brands to the next-level experience, building the country, and powering our economy.

From all of us at TeamAsia, Maligayang Araw ng Kasarinlan, Pilipinas!
