CITEM supports International Outsourcing Summit 2011

(July 14, 2011 — Manila, Philippines) The Information Technology and Business Processing Outsourcing (IT-BPO)  industry, in its bid to become one of the top revenue earning industries in the Philippines with projections of about $250 billion between now and 2016, has been assured of support by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM).

“It is within the key agenda of CITEM to help sustain the rapid growth of the IT-BPO industry in the country. Its 24% employment growth in 2009 significantly contributed to the national economic recovery. Thus, we really have to ensure that this growth momentum will continue,” said CITEM Executive Director Rosvi C. Gaetos.

About 60 international speakers and panelists and over 400 delegates are convening for the 3rd Annual International Outsourcing Summit from October 11 to 12 at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza. Organized by the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP), this year’s Summit will review the progress of the Philippines IT-BPO Road Map 2011-2016, including key opportunities and development challenges of the IT industry.

The Summit also features discussions on Global In-house Centers (GICs), and the implications of the Philippines’ position as the new leader in voice-based services and number two in non-voice services, and how the results of increased demand is changing relationships, realigning expectations, and increasing the complexity of service delivery around the world.

Raymond Lacdao, BPAP executive director for industry affairs announced the coming together of top global IT-BPO and GICs leaders and executives at the Summit to discuss the future of the industry, and to provide insights into a fast-emerging offshore outsourcing centers that continues to extend opportunities while creating new and complex development challenges.

“The industry is moving up the value chain rapidly, and clients expect services providers to be their partners in enhancing value for their customers,” explained Lacdao.

With the theme “Global Market Leaders Addressing Global Issues,” the Summit will also endeavor to focus attention on demand for innovation and value creation. A look at what gets outsourced next, particularly in the area of fundamental research and development, will also be a key topic as speakers, panelists, and delegates look to the future of IT-BPO.
