“My Dream in a Shoebox” Christmas countdown begins

BPAP and TeamAsia launch 4th run of “My Dream in a Shoebox” Christmas Campaign

(Manila, Philippines, October 9, 2012) — As the season of giving draws near, the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) and strategic marketing communications firm TeamAsia formally launched the fourth annual “My Dream in a Shoebox,” a Christmas campaign that collects and distributes school supplies to less fortunate Filipino children as well as funding to help build public schools nationwide.

This year’s goal is to provide 10,000 shoeboxes, 500 computers and laptops and P2 million for the Bayanihang Pampaaralan program. The campaign’s beneficiaries will be identified by Children’s Hour and the Department of Education (DepEd).

“We’re especially excited for the fourth run of ‘My Dream in a Shoebox’ this year because TeamAsia is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Through this Christmas campaign and with the help of our partners, we’re able to share our blessings with more young people,” said TeamAsia president Monette Iturralde-Hamlin.

“With the support and generosity of compassionate hearts who want the next generation to rise up to become leaders and movers of society, we can reach our goal in helping this Christmas resonate throughout these children’s lives and the lives of the generations after them,” said Raymond Lacdao, BPAP executive director for Industry Affairs.

Last year, BPAP, TeamAsia, Children’s Hour and industry volunteers organized gift-giving sessions in Tambo Elementary School, Paninsingin Elementary School, and Pinagkawitan Elementary School in Lipa City, Batangas, to deliver more than 1,500 shoeboxes.

A total of 7,867 shoeboxes with school supplies, 212 computers and laptops, and more than P2 million in cash donations were collected and deployed to areas such as remote villages in typhoon-stricken Iligan City and to public schools under DepEd’s Bayanihang Pampaaralan initiative.

According to organizers, there are three ways to contribute and be part of “My Dream in a Shoebox” campaign: donate computers, donate cash or create do-it-yourself shoeboxes.
