A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials.

-Lucius Annaeus Seneca

For the IT-Web department, the above saying is very true. Who would have known that the young man that unassumingly entered our office a few years back would be heralded as the best employee of our company and one of the most consequential additions to our team?

We started out as the Three Musketeers of the IT-Web Department. Sir Jeff, Gary, and I worked together to create award-winning websites that helped our clients meet their goals and share the story of the brand in the digital space. As time progressed, more and more companies approached us to create websites and mobile applications, and we realized the need to add more people to our team.

The first person added was Leo. He proved to be a great team member, showing a deep interest for the things we worked on while providing insight that led to successful projects. And just like before, we saw an influx of projects coming our way. Soon after, we came to the conclusion that we needed to expand the team once again.

This is where this story gets interesting.

I remember it just like it was yesterday, we were still housed in our old office in Plaza B when three young applicants who were looking to fill a position within our Telemarketing team was spotted by our IT administrator then. He exchanged a few pleasantries and invited them to interview for a position with our department, the other two answered with courteous smiles, while one showed genuine interest for the opportunity.

He looked like this unassuming gawky teen. He shyly introduced himself as Marvin Desuasido. But this scraggly-looking teen blew me away with his deep knowledge and innate brilliance. He was humorous, honest, and very engaging. That convinced me that he’d be a perfect fit for our team.

The entire team agrees that we saw a spark within Marvin. But through his continuous effort to excel, he succeeded in fanning that spark into a flame.

He has an incessant drive to learn, a passion to serve, and an incredible drive towards professional growth. I believe that this is what sets Marvin apart. Quietly, he has shown excellence in everything he does. He has been a strong backbone for many eventsactivations, and even something as small as a conference call or a meeting. Marvin, without causing much noise, brought us to the next level experience.

I sincerely believe that all of this is what merited his latest recognition, being the TeamAsian of the Year.

Marvin has embodied the best of TeamAsia and for that he has made TeamAsia better.

The IT&Web Department. (Clockwise: J Darell, Jeff, AC, Gary, Marvin, and Leo)
