IBPAP tackles impact of AI, automation
By Bernie Cahiles-Magkilat
The IT-business process management, the country’s second largest dollar earner, will tackle the impact of artificial intelligence and automation on jobs creation, talent and business.
This already hotly contested issue will bring together industry leaders and analyst firms from all over the globe to join the conversation at the forthcoming 9th International IT-BPM Summit organized by the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) partners with the Call Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP).
Already in the lineup are HfS Research, Everest Group and AI Pros – leading global firms which will delve into the potential far-reaching effects of the coming technological revolution.
“It will be an industry-wide phenomenon,” said IBPAP President Rey Untal.
“New technologies will change the way we do things. From the jobs, to the workforce, to the businesses themselves.”
Based on the IT-BPM Roadmap 2022, the industry is projecting total revenue to grow $38.9 billion by 2022 of which the contact center sector or the voice sector is expected to grow 8.2 percent to contribute $20.4 billion of total revenues. In 2016, the industry employs 1.3 million direct workers and $25 billion in revenues.
With such an intensely debated and encompassing topic, the industry will elevate the conversation at the 9th International IT-BPM Summit slated on Nov. 7 in Makati.
“The IIS has always been the place to gain new ground and share insights on the trends and challenges on the horizon,” explained CCAP President, Jojo Uligan.
With the theme “Ph DNA: Human Tech,” the summit puts the spotlight on the IT-BPM’s answer to the AI question: the Filipino workforce.
“As Filipinos, it’s in our DNA to be tech-savvy, creative, emotive, and above all else, service-oriented. We have the capability to strike that perfect balance between human and technology to deliver an unparalleled customer experience.”
The IIS will also be the site for the unveiling of the new country brand and narrative, as the IT-BPM industry steps up its efforts to boost the country’s competitiveness as part of Roadmap 2022’s high impact programs.
“There may be some challenges ahead but with it also comes opportunities,” said Untal. “With this new narrative, we will shape the future of enterprises, the future of jobs, the future of tech and ultimately, accelerate the IT-BPM industry into the future.”
Since 2009, the IIS has been the platform where information technology and business processes management (IT-BPM) industry thought leaders, stakeholders and key representatives converge to explore industry trends and exchange insights. This year, the IIS returns amidst a digital transformation that will impact the future of the IT-BPM sector.
