International IT-BPM Summit ushers new era of growth

Manila, Philippines – The Philippines can expect more growth from its ‘sunshine industry’ as the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) launches the seventh annual International IT-BPM Summit, themed Harnessing information, Powering nations, Connecting the world, to be held on October 5 – 6, 2015 at the Marriott Hotel, Manila, Philippines.

Forecasted to surpass OFW remittances in the next two years, the local IT and business process management (IT-BPM) industry still proves to be the largest and fastest growing industry in the Philippines, increasing by 15% to 18% every year. Last year, it earned $18.9 billion, while revenue for 2015 is pegged at $21.2 billion, and $28.9 billion for 2017. By the end of 2014, the industry employed 1.03 million Filipinos.

The Summit is regarded as the premier platform for IT-BPM knowledge sharing and networking. It gathers stakeholders including top level business executives, allied industry representatives from property, consultancy, marketing and telecommunications firms; government officials and industry associations from all over the globe to discuss the next steps in addressing new challenges by utilizing the latest innovations to sustain the growth of the industry both locally and worldwide.

“The Summit’s theme declares the very essence of what the industry has become to the world,” said IBPAP president and CEO, Jomari Mercado. “The magic of this industry stems from the ability of our local talent pools to harness information to power nations and connect the world–which is truly a sign of our times. The digital age has given businesses and organizations the opportunity to tap the best available resources around the world through the industry.”

Attendees can expect to immerse in discussion about tech trends in the industry, such as how automation and cloud robotics are shaking up its traditional business models, how employers can deal with the evolving demands of the digital workforce and how the Internet of Things is shaping the future of enterprises. They will also get to take away what goes into business continuity planning in times of calamity and learn about the social impact of the industry around the globe, among a diverse set of topics relevant to today’s IT-BPM industry. The Summit will also tackle the industry’s government support in light of the 2016 Philippine presidential elections and how this can affect the risk perception of the local industry to its investors.

“The topics will feature speakers of the highest expertise in their respective fields in business, technology and management, providing the delegates with top-of-the-line presentations and productive panel discussions with real-life examples, as this year the Summit is all about mentorship,” Mercado added.

The Summit expects delegates from other rising IT-BPM destinations including Bangladesh, Bhutan Scotland, South Africa, and South Korea, among many others, who will share their experiences and best practices with their own IT-BPM industries.
