LCF transforms the business of giving back at the 11th CSR Expo

(Manila, Philippines, March 22, 2012) – Marking the end of its fifteenth year, the League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) announced that it will hold its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Expo on July 5 and 6, 2012 at the SMX Convention Center.

The 11th CSR Expo, with the theme “Transforming the Business of Giving Back,” will highlight how businesses can contribute to the country’s development by balancing social, environmental, and economic responsibility within an ethical framework, while ensuring sufficient financial return for sustainability.

LCF encourages corporations to go beyond philanthropy and focus on applying business solutions to help address social problems. “There’s no better time to assess our sustainability goals as we face the challenges of doing business in an emerging economy,” said Ms. Camille Buenaventura, LCF president. “Businesses that remain unsure of CSR as a valuable strategy should participate in the Expo to gain insights on creating value while making a positive impact on society.”

Around 600 delegates consisting of CSR practitioners, executives, entrepreneurs, government representatives, academicians, and civil society partners are expected to attend the 11th CSR Expo. Topics during the two-day Expo include social entrepreneurship, Filipino cultural values, public-private partnerships, volunteerism and philanthropy, and global CSR trends, among others. The Expo will feature an exhibition of the development work of corporations and corporate foundations, as well as free CSR 101 sessions for students to increase their awareness and knowledge on the practice of CSR across industries.

This year’s Expo will be another green conference. Wastage will be kept to a minimum by going paperless, using recycled materials, and saving energy as much as possible throughout the event.
