With the rise of digital lifestyle and mobile gaming over the last few years, phone launches have become a thing to expect on the weekly — sometimes even more frequently. One of the most common of these are mid-range phone launches, which hope to create products that deliver world-class capabilities at an affordable price. It’s hard to stand out in the sea of great mid-rangers out there, but from a first glance, it seems that OPPO has a winner on their hands with the OPPO A94.
The team at OPPO were kind enough to send us a review unit for us to check out ahead of its official launch on March 26, so let’s go ahead and check that out!
The OPPO A94 is OPPO’s latest attempt at capturing the mid-range phone market. Hot off the heels of their flagship Find X3 Pro, the A94 aims to deliver much of the high performance and premium vibes the brand is known for at an affordable price. But enough of talking about specs and features; let’s check out the phone itself.
nside the box are the phone itself, alongside a couple of well-appreciated inclusions. The review set OPPO sent us includes the beautiful Fantastic Purple version of the phone (which reflects light stunningly based on which angle you hold it at), a pair of headphones, and its signature 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 USB-C power adapter.
With its large 4310mAh capacity and the insanely fast speeds of VOOC charging, the phone should last for quite a while if you’re aiming to some heavy gaming. But speaking of gaming, what about it?
But what do we think of the phone as a whole? While its multimedia capabilities and merit as a device in general look great, we’re going to look at this from the gaming angle since this is Esports Inquirer.
While the all-new OPPO A94 caters to those who want to #LiveLifeAtFullSpeed, the smartphone is also built to be a gaming powerhouse. On top of features tailored specifically to gamers like its Game Focus Mode and Game Floating Window, they’ve also partnered up with Moonton’s MLBB Professional League and Mineski’s Philippine Pro Gaming League for League of Legends: Wild Rift to serve as those leagues’ official phone. This means that they’ve clearly made it for esports in mind.
Based on our initial tests, the OPPO A94 absolutely flies in all the popular game titles out there. No matter what we throwed at the A94 — ranging from the usual League of Legends: Wild Rift and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang to more demanding ones like Genshin Impact and — the device kept up and delivered a smooth performance. Never was there a time in the multiplayer titles where the frame rate dipped below a rock-solid 60FPS.
Definitely an esports-capable device like OPPO says!
