PACEOS appoints 2013 board of trustees

The Philippine Association of Convention/Exhibition Organizers and Suppliers, Inc. (PACEOS) announced the appointment of its board of trustees and committee chairmen for 2013. A non-stock, non-profit organization, PACEOS aims to develop and promote the Philippines as a leading meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions/events (MICE) destination.

Monette Ituralde-Hamlin, founder and president of TeamAsia and distinguished events organizer, was re-elected to continue leading PACEOS’s efforts in raising the professionalism and operational standards of the local industry as president.

Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Jr. led the induction of officers, and was presented with a copy of The Events Planning Manual jointly published by PACEOS and the Philippine MICE Academy.

Marisa Nallana of Philippine Exhibits and Themeparks Corporation (PETCO) was named chairman; Jing Lagandaon of Global-Link MP Events Int’l. Inc., vice president for conventions and director for programs and events; Joel Pascual of Premier Events Plus Group, Inc., vice president for exhibitions and director for research; Dexter Deyto of SMX Convention Center, vice president for suppliers and director of ethics; Adelia Majaba of Danex Signs, Inc., secretary general and director for publicity and promotions; Pamela Pascual of World Trade Center Metro Manila, treasurer and director for ways and means; Dinah Gonzalez of Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), auditor and director of membership; and Orly Ballesteros, director for education and assistant director for ways and means.

With over 40 member organizations composed of leading professional event, exhibition and convention organizers, PACEOS co-organized this year’s world-class MICE conference (MICECON) with the Department of Tourism (DOT) through its Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), and the Meetings, Incentive Travel, Events / Exhibitions (MITE) Philippines, Inc. Themed iMICE2013. iGNITE. iNNOVATE. iNSPIRE. iNFUSE 2013, the conference was held at the Davao SMX Convention Center.  To help prepare the organizing committee and local industry players for MICECON, the Philippine MICE Academy, the training division of PACEOS, conducted an advanced workshop.

With an impressive set of speakers, the conference provided fresh insights to industry players. “MICECON 2013 is a platform for enhancing our knowledge and  the quality of our services. We want to create a competitive advantage for the Philippines by being able to successfully showcase what we have to offer. We have such great potential in becoming a top destination for MICE tourism, and it’s high time we do something about it,” said Iturralde-Hamlin.
