(Manila, Philippines, February 15, 2013) — The Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA), a partner association of the Business Processing Association of the Philippines that promotes the growth and global competitiveness of the country’s software development and IT outsourcing industry, recently named its 2013 board of directors.
They are Nora Terrado, president and country manager of Headstrong Philippines, as president; Joey Gurango, founder and CEO of Gurango Software, as vice president; Ito Gruet, VP-Business Development of Computer Professionals Inc., as corporate secretary; and Cristina “Beng” Coronel, president of Pointwest Technologies, as treasurer.
With a new set of officers, PSIA hopes to continue its successful stride in this year’s organizational goals, particularly in increasing membership, export and domestic revenues, and securing resource scalability. The association expects a 30 percent increase in employment for IT professionals as well as 150 percent growth in intellectual property (IP) assets.
“As we work to achieve US$3 billion industry revenues by 2016, we encourage our members to step up and participate more actively in PSIA’s activities,” said Terrado. “The new set of officers will work hard to achieve our goals in membership growth, targeted marketing, and scalability.”
Committee chairpersons were elected along with the 2013 PSIA board of directors. These include Cristina “Beng” Coronel (Capability Development); Nora Terrado (Marketing); Arup Maity of BlastAsia (Information and Research); Alvin Gendrano of Microsoft (Membership and Ethics); Joey Gurango (Software Product Incubation Group or SPRING); Tae Abe-Abion of SpiceWorx Consultancy (Japan Market Group); Calen Legaspi of Orange & Bronze Software Labs (Technology Council); and Bettina Quimson of Navigator Systems (Government Relations Committee and Technology for Education and Development (TED) Special Committee).
To achieve its 2016 revenue target, PSIA is opening its doors to potential member companies to expand from 150 members to more than 200. The organization is also looking into a more scalable capability development to boost both domestic and export markets, which are expected to secure an increase of around US$100 million in new customer contracts. PSIA is also gearing up for Softcon.ph, an event slated on the last quarter of 2013 in celebration of the organization’s 25th anniversary.
