TeleDevelopment Services to Hold First BPO Training Excellence Awards

BPO support services firm to recognize best practices in industry training

(Manila, Philippines, January 25, 2010) – In celebration of the 10th year of the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, TeleDevelopment Services (TDS), will launch the first annual BPO Training Excellence Awards, organized in cooperation with the Philippine Society for Training and Development (PSTD). The awards aim to recognize the role of training in BPO success, and to honor organizations and individuals that have exemplified excellence in BPO training.

The recognition is critical because despite significant industry growth, labor supply remains a concern for most BPO companies. According to the Call Center Association of the Philippines (CCAP), call centers have an attrition rate of 19%, with an employee acceptance rate of approximate only 5%. Increasing attrition rates, higher demand for complex skills, and industry growth have intensified the demand for more specialized training services.

The awards will be held during the TDS 4th Annual Call Center and BPO Training Convention, The Vision of the Next Decade: Conquering Uncharted Ground, which is set to take place on March 11 to 12 at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel, and is organized in partnership with strategic marketing communications firm TeamAsia.

Nominations for the excellence awards are open to companies, organizations, and business enterprises that have provided outsourcing services in the Philippines within the period of 2000 and 2009.

“The demand for skilled workers has risen as the BPO industry has become increasingly complex. We have seen training become a key differentiator among BPOs, as it drives talent acquisition, retention, and development. We believe that successful companies in the industry are characterized not just by their technology, service offerings, and clients, but also by the skills of their workforce. As a BPO support services firm, we recognize our role in the development of a qualified workforce,” Jon Kaplan, TDS president stated.

The awards ceremony will be the culminating activity of the Annual Call Center and BPO Training Convention. For more information about the 4th Annual Call Center and BPO Training Convention and the 1st BPO Training Excellence Awards, log on to www.tdstrainingconvention.com.
