Manila, Philippines—Bringing to life a strong “we give where we live” philosophy, leading call center and outsourcing services provider TELUS International Philippines (TIP), in partnership with Gawad Kalinga (GK) and child welfare program Bantay Bata 163; recently held four corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives at different sites.

“Social responsibility is one of our corporate pillars within TELUS International,” stated Javier Infante, TIP president. “We want to be known as a company with a heart, which is why we take CSR seriously. Building houses for homeless families and doing activities for children that help them enjoy their childhood are great opportunities for TIP team members to create positive change in our society.”

GK officials and TIP management together turned over three new homes to community members of the TELUS-GK Village 1 in Tandang Sora and nine new homes at TELUS-GK Village 2 in Batasan Hills, Quezon City. The construction of further homes, immersion activities and lunch followed the ceremony.

“This is another significant moment for TIP as 12 more families have their own shelters which they can now call home, thanks to our strong partnership with GK,” stated Cris Rosenthal, TIP’s vice president of human resources. “Seeing the smiles on children’s faces and hearing their laughter every time we organize an activity like this with Bantay Bata gives us a remarkable feeling. It makes us even prouder of ourselves and of our company.”

In addition to the ceremonies, TIP team members took sixty children from families supported by GK, on a trip to La Mesa Ecopark in Quezon City for a field trip. They were served lunch, enjoyed an Easter egg hunt, swam and played games.

Other TIP team members were working with Bantay Bata 163 group in Sitio Lucia, Bulacan. About sixty children under the tutelage of Bantay Bata 163 were taught how to swim, hunted for Easter eggs, ate snacks, had lunch, and participated in other fun-filled activities.

TIP’s partnerships with GK and Bantay Bata 163 are part of the company’s CSR initiatives. TIP and GK have been working together for more than five years. The first TELUS GK Village has 71 houses and a community center, and there are plans to build 123 more houses for the second TELUS GK Village.

TIP supports Bantay Bata 163 in its various endeavors in helping sick and abused children. The company has been affiliated with the group since 2003.
