The dictionary definition of a pip is a small fruit seed or something very good of its kind. I can relate a pip to a small idea that employers plant in their company which eventually grows, branches out, and bears fruit of acceptance and love. This is how I see TeamAsia, they planted the idea of love and diversity within its walls, and now they are reaping the fruits of that idea where employees are valued and celebrated.
In the Philippines, our diversity is our strength. Our nation thrives on the rich tapestry of our people of different cultures, languages, and traditions. That’s why it’s so important for companies to welcome everyone, no matter their SOGIESC (sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and sex characteristics). When we include everyone, we create workplaces where everyone can do their best. In TeamAsia, we explore how inclusivity boosts productivity, sparks creativity, encourages big ideas, and makes everyone feel like they belong.
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, a company which celebrates the diversity of its employees is a huge factor for me when it comes to choosing the right workplace. TeamAsia is a wonderful example of this.
Vitality All Around
Productivity is the lifeblood of any organization, and inclusivity plays a pivotal role in enhancing it. When individuals feel valued and respected for who they are, they’re more likely to be motivated to contribute their best work. Inclusive workplaces cultivate a sense of trust and psychological safety, where employees feel comfortable expressing themselves and sharing their ideas without fear of judgment or discrimination.
In TeamAsia, I have experienced countless moments where my presence, ideas, and contributions are highly valued. The work, like any other job, is difficult to do but with supportive teammates, leadership that guides you, and friendships that go beyond the four corners of the office, greatly helps when it comes to productivity. This sense of belonging fosters collaboration and teamwork, ultimately leading to higher levels of productivity.
A Rainbow of Talents
Diversity brings a myriad of perspectives and experiences to the table, which can fuel creativity and innovation. When people from different backgrounds come together, they bring unique insights that can challenge the status quo and spark new ideas.
TeamAsia fosters this kind of environment where diverse voices are not only heard but celebrated, companies can unlock untapped potential and drive creative breakthroughs. The exploration of big ideas thrives in inclusive environments where individuals feel empowered to think outside the box and take risks. When employees feel supported regardless of their gender or background, they’re more likely to push the boundaries of conventional thinking and pursue ambitious projects. This can be seen how TeamAsia serves its purpose of next level experience in all things they do. Amazing services to their clients, excellent career opportunities for their employees, and well-crafted ideas for everything they do.
Inclusivity encourages a culture of experimentation and learning, where failure is seen as an opportunity for growth rather than a setback. This mindset cultivates resilience and adaptability, essential qualities for navigating the complexities of today’s rapidly changing business landscape.
Allies of Life
Inclusive companies prioritize creating cultures where every employee feels valued, respected, and supported. They invest in initiatives such as diversity training, mentorship programs, and employee resource groups to ensure that all voices are heard and represented. TeamAsia actively promotes diversity and inclusion, companies send a powerful message that everyone is welcome and has an equal opportunity to succeed.
Beyond TeamAsia’s productivity, creativity, and the exploration of big ideas, the overall corporate culture plays a significant role in fostering a sense of belongingness. This wonderfully materialized when TeamAsia was recognized as an SME Champion for Gender Inclusive Workplace by UN WEPS in 2022. As a women-owned and women-led company, TeamAsia strives to consistently enhance its programs and policies to advance diversity and inclusion.
I have been part of TeamAsia for over a year and I have seen how they celebrate their employees. Last June 2023, during Pride Month, we had an online company event where we celebrated the uniqueness and diversity of TeamAsians. I was one of the hosts where we educated our fellow TeamAsians about the topic of SOGIE and why it is important to pass the SOGIE bill. In 2020, TeamAsia President and CEO Bea Lim released a Breakfast to Business episode where she talks about diversity and inclusion with TeamAsia’s Executive Creative Director Shu Manalo. They talked about how critical the conversation of diversity and inclusion is key for collective growth of humanity but also for businesses to thrive and grow.
This kind of culture of inclusivity not only benefits employees but also strengthens the company as a whole. When individuals feel a sense of belonging, they’re more likely to be engaged, loyal, and committed to the organization’s mission and values.
For the next 32 years of TeamAsia, we want to further support for inclusivity for all genders and backgrounds, not just a moral imperative but also a strategic advantage. Through this prioritization, companies such as TeamAsia can enhance productivity, foster creativity, encourage the exploration of big ideas, and cultivate a corporate culture where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
As we continue to navigate the complexities of this modern world, let us remember that diversity is not only a strength but also a catalyst for positive change.
